We handle vacancies across a wide range of sectors, including retail, construction, office, security, hospitality, horticulture, manufacturing, warehouse and health and social care.

The Mayor's Employment Project team provides a similar range of support which is specially tailored for long term unemployed residents, or people living in workless households. The key aim of this project is to help residents who would like to work, but are afraid of losing their benefits. If you are a resident of Newham; long term unemployed and worried about being worse off if you work, the team are keen to meet you to discuss your circumstances.

In order to register for any Workplace support you will need to prove your identity and eligibility to work in the UK, with one of the following documents:

  • UK passport
  • current EU passport
  • current non UK or EU passport with valid work permit / visa
  • full UK birth certificate.

If your eligibility evidence is a full UK birth certificate, you must bring at least ONE form of photographic ID which can be:

  • full UK driving license
  • full EU driving license.

You must provide proof of address to show you are a Newham resident and have been living in the borough for a minimum of ONE year. This can be:

  • utility bill (gas, electricity, water)
  • bank statement
  • council tax bill
  • benefit statement (JSA, Income Support, Child Tax Credit, etc)

You must provide proof of your National Insurance number, which can be

  • A valid NI number card
  • A valid P45 or P60
  • A letter from JobcentrePlus or other government agency

Additionally, you should also bring:

  • originals of any educational qualifications
  • employment relevant qualifications and cards
  • your CV
  • your email address details
