I wake up and
say 'yes' I want
to go to work.
Before I came to Workplace I was not very happy with
the jobs I was doing. I worked in factories, cafés and
shops and they were not well paid.
One was outside of London and I would leave at 5.30
in the morning as travelling could take three to four
hours a day. After a year, I decided I wanted to work
nearer to home. I contacted Job Centre Plus and they
suggested I go to Workplace to get help with my CV.
A really nice man interviewed me. He asked me what
I wanted my future to be. My mother and father were
engineers in construction at home in Lithuania. I told him
I would like to work in construction too.
Workplace paid for me to go on a two-week Information
Technology Qualification Course (ITQ) specialising in
construction industry administration. I learnt very quickly
and my tutor was impressed with me. Now I have a job
I enjoy. It's changed my life.
