I love my job and I'd like to see more women coming into construction.

I'd been out of work for a few months when I heard about Workplace through friends.

I'd already done some work in construction. My dad was a builder and built all the houses in our village from scratch. I used to go to work with him when I was young and wanted to be like him when I grew up!

Workplace trained me up as a slinger/signaller and dumper driver. They got me a job as a slab layer but it wasn't long before I was promoted. I became the first female Contracts Supervisor at VGC.

Now I'm getting other people into work, especially around Stratford and the Olympic site. A company will phone VGC up wanting a construction worker and I will help recruit a suitably qualified person. Once they begin work I visit them regularly on site to make sure the contract is working well.

Construction is booming in East London so we know our great relationship with Workplace is set to continue.
