Workplace, the London Borough of Newham’s job brokerage and recruitment service, was set up to provide support, training and advice to residents seeking employment. Workplace attempts to provide Newham residents with the skills and aptitudes that employers want in order to fill the vacancies emerging from development projects.
Our training programme covers elements of short employer-led construction and non-construction training courses. All courses are linked to specific job opportunities Workplace is recruiting for.

Candidates work in groups because parents tell us they feel empowered by being with others in similar situations. We eat lunch together which builds the community of parents and encourages people return the next day. Parents already leave with a SMART Action plan. We will add an excellent CV prepared in partnership with the facilitator. Creche availability and delivered at children’s centres around the borough.
Motivation and Confidence Building (NEW)

This opportunity is to provide mentoring and confidence building activities to long-term unemployed Newham residents to help them explore their barriers to work, and help them develop the confidence, motivation and skills necessary to progress towards employment. Delivered at fantastic new training facility at The Skills Place Newham in Westfield Stratford City over four days.

BTEC Level 2 Understanding Stewarding and Spectator Safety (NEW)

Workplace is working with Akona training to support candidates who want to train as Event Stewards. Course is three days classroom based in Leyton Orient Football ground and then stewarding at two events, such as football or sporting as part of work experience. Candidates will achieve nationally recognised certificate and practical experience. You need to be 19, plus a resident of UK in last three years, have English to Entry Level 3 and above and be flexible to do the events at weekends or evenings.
